Residential Services:
Jessica & Friends Community was founded with the purpose of providing homes for adults with intellectual disabilities within a faith-based environment. Please take the time to experience “Sometimes Miracles Hide-The Miracle of Our First Home”.
The residential homes provide independent and supported environments where individuals requiring moderate to significant support are provided assistance in meeting their daily living requirements (and more). Our staff members work closely with residents to provide opportunities for social interactions and personal growth outside of, and within, peer groups and the community.
Life skills such as personal hygiene, household chores, food preparation, wellness, and shopping are taught. Independence is learned as individuals develop their gifts and abilities by being a vital part of home, church, and community activities. As a faith-based organization we are able to connect individuals, at the discretion of the family, with local churches that foster environments of inclusion and spiritual growth.
Community integration and service are bedrocks of our Residential program. Many of our residents participate in day programs like Jessica & Friend’s Pathway Services and benefit from social interactions while having their giftedness revealed in areas like art and music. Individuals also learn to serve others through ministries like Blossoms to Blessings by visiting individuals in senior care facilities around York County. Recreationally the residents enjoy walking in the park, hiking, bowling, movies, games, and more. One of our residents stays fit with regular workouts on her treadmill.
Currently we operate seven homes in the York community, serving a total of 26 individuals. Each home is lead by a house manager and dedicated team of caring and trained staff striving to help each individual reach their God-given potential.
