The Blessing of Our Day Program

March 22, 2008, on Jessica’s 28th birthday, God showered Jessica & Friends Community with another blessing. For several years we had been praying and dreaming about starting an adult, faith-based day program to serve adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. On this day we were taking Jessica on a drive and discovered the property at 218 Dew Drop Road, the former Knaub’s Bakery, for sale. We sensed it would be perfect to house our growing organization’s needs for administrative offices and a future day program, Pathway Services. Through the generosity of many ministry friends, a “Run, Roll and Stroll” event which raised $65,000, numerous in-kind gifts, and many volunteers, we were able to purchase and renovate the property over a two year period.

On May 22, 2010 we held a Grand Opening where 400 friends of the ministry came from far and near to celebrate God’s faithfulness. The special day included door prizes, tours, an old-fashioned pig roast, and a praise band. The ribbon cutting and dedication were a prelude to the long-anticipated day, June 8, 2010 when our faith-based day program, Pathway Services, opened its doors. The picture to the left is of Jessica and her mother, Paulette Teague, after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

A friend of the ministry summed it up well: “When Jessica cut the ribbon, the Holy Spirit blessed every single heart...what a glorious day indeed...a true miracle.’
