Making A Difference in the Hanover Community - Little Hats Big Hearts

According to The Children's Heart Foundation website, "Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs) are the most common birth defect in America, affecting approximately one in one hundred, or 40,000 newborns each year. CHDs are the most common cause of infant death related to birth defects and sadly 25 percent of babies born with a critical CHD will not survive past their first birthday." The month of February is all about heart health and education, and so the American Heart Association and Children's Heart Foundation asked the local knitters and crocheters to mak red hats for newborns in order bring awareness to CHDs and remind families to be heart healthy.Pathway Services Hanover decided to help this cause and knit red hats. Over the last few months, we have loom knitted and crocheted 24 hats to bring awareness to the cause.  We donated the hats on February 1, 2018 to Hanover Hospital to give out to our local families with newborns. We hope that it will remind these families to take care of their hearts.
